What does the IRS need AR-15’s for?

BY KEVIN SAWYER – Well, it’s now official. There are now more bureaucrats in Washington carrying guns that the entirety of the United States Marine Corps. While the Democrat party continues its antics on the floor of the House to prevent Americans from owning guns, and finally burying the Second Amendment, government bureaucrats and their agencies continue to stockpile military grade weapons.

In a recently released study called The Militarization of America, the report discovered that government agencies spent $1.48 billion, yes, billion, on guns, ammunition and military gear between the years 2006-2014. Now, IRS agents have AR-15’s, a military assault rifle, and bureaucrats at the Environmental Protection Agency now have camouflage uniforms.

What?

Isn’t it bad enough that the military sells all of its surplus equipment to the police forces in the country so that the line between being a police officer and being a soldier continues to be blurred and nearly eradicated? We have bureaucrats spending our tax money to arm themselves in a military manner? What are they arming themselves against?

There are people at The Department of Health and Human Services being trained in military warfare by the same contractors who train many of America’s elite special forces soldiers. The IRS spent over $11 million in weapons to arm its 2,316 “special agents”. The IRS billed, many will say bilked, Americans for such things as the above mentioned AR-15’s along with semi automatic shotguns, and assault rifles with magazines that can carry 30 rounds.

Not only does the Environmental Protection Agency have people walking around looking silly in camo but they also spent millions of dollars on drones, body armor, and night vision equipment. The EPA? Other agencies arming themselves to the teeth include the Department of Education, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Small Business Administration.

There is, now, 200,000 federal bureaucrats who are heavily armed and have the powers of arrest. That compares with America’s 182,100 U.S. Marines who are armed.

The research report was conducted by an organization called Open The Books. A spokesman for the organization went on to say that the federal government needs to stop arming itself, while trying to destroy the right of an American citizen to arm him or her self for self defense and they demand that the feds stop the militarization of the police in this country.

“Conservatives argue that it is hypocritical of politicians to undermine the Second Amendment,” a spokesman for Open The Books said, “while simultaneously equipping non-military agencies with hollow point bullets and military style equipment. One could argue that the federal government itself has become a gun show that never adjourns with dozens of agencies continuing to shop for firearms.”
