11 year old Naomi Oakes was diagnosed with leukemia in June and will be hospitalized for 6-9 months for intensive treatment. A big Taylor Swift fan, the 11 year old adopted the singer’s hit song “Bad Blood” as her theme song. The brave girl made a YouTube video titled “Naomi’s Bad Blood” (in which “Bad Blood” plays in the background) explaining her heartbreaking situation, diagnosis, and the lengthy hospitalization that will ultimately force her to miss her favorite artist Taylor Swift’s concert in August.

Naomi’s family set up a GoFundMe page to help raise $30,000 dollars needed to cover the cost of her treatment, but little did they know that Swift herself was about to get involved.

In an incredible act of humanity, the pop star saw the campaign and swiftly (pun intended) donated $50,000 to the Oakes family. The singer then took the time to give Naomi a personal shout out:

“To the beautiful and brave Naomi, I’m sorry you have to miss it, but there will always be more concerts. Let’s focus on getting you feeling better. I’m sending the biggest hugs to you and your family.”

Naomi’s reaction to Swift’s personal message left her in tears of joy.
