That’s not the case for the new metal band that pays homage to him.
Their musical style can be described as ” revolving around crunchy, lo-fi guitar and shrill, lurching synth.” band description
They come complete with green sweaters with a pink collared undershirt costumes and the words “Okilly Dokilly”–a play on the catch phrase of the Simpson’s mild mannered Christian neighbor–in the name.
The band members’ names are yet another funny addition–Head Ned, Bled Ned, Red Ned, Thread Ned and Stead Ned.
Head Ned explains that he was in line at a grocery store with his drummer when they came up with “Okilly Dokilly”. They were goofing off and brainstorming cutesy ironic names for hardcore, brutal metal.
““The name ‘Okilly Dokilly’ came up and was very funny to us – we ran with it. I contacted a few friends, and here we are.”
They are still relatively unknown and call themselves the world’s only Nedal band.
Okilly Dokilly liberally quotes Flanders’ lines in their lyrics and disprove Homer Simpson’s “Everybody Hates Ned Flanders”.
The Phoenix-based 5 will play their first hometown show in September.
Head Ned says, “Most of us have played in other bands around our hometown. This is definitely the heaviest sounding project any of us Neds have done.”
