CA Nurse Told she won the Powerball

On Wednesday night, millions of people were awaiting the Powerball winning numbers to see if their fortunes were about to greatly improve. A nurse at Park Avenue Health & Wellness Center in Pomona, California was told by her son that she had won the jackpot while at work. As expected, a celebration broke out at the nursing home, but it turned out to be a prank.

According to the nursing home’s administrator, David Levy, the facility was abuzz on Wednesday night after the nurse received a call from her son. He went so far as to send her a picture of what he claimed to be the winning ticket.

“It’s a joke. It’s a prank…by my brother,” the 56-year-old nurse’s daughter Jennifer told the Daily News from her home on Thursday.

“It’s embarrassing. This is too much for us,” she said, visibly upset by all the fuss.

The bizarre turn of events came a day after lottery officials revealed that three people won the epic $1.6 billion jackpot — in California, Tennessee and Florida.
