Trevor Frolek was amazingly born at 23 weeks and weighed just a pound. Even more amazingly,he fought to survive and won.

345 days later, Baby Trevor is 20 lbs and despite needing some treatment is slated to have a fairly normal life.

His extended stay at NICU  Essentia Health in Fargo ended last week. And everyone celebrated.

“It’s just a complete miracle,” his mom Becky gushed in a recent interview, “The doctors and nurses have worked so hard to get him to this point. It’s beyond amazing.”

NICU clinical supervisor Vicki Holtan had this to say,”You look at him and it’s like, ‘You are a little miracle. You are supposed to be here.”

Trevor had been due last December, but by August, Becky was rushing to the hospital with severe cramping.

Giving his nurse only 15 minutes to get ready, Trevor began making his entrance into the world.

A number of medical procedure were needed to keep Trevor going. He couldn’t breath on his own and his skin was fragile and could easily be torn. Becky had doubts about his likelihood of survival and even called in a priest to baptize the baby in peril.

She was scared to even look at him. That was until a nurse convinced her to come into the NICU.

Becky said that it was scary, but her baby was not as as bad as she had anticipated and the nurses were ready to help him fight.

It was an uphill battle for the Foleks, holding vigil by Trevor’s bed side and surgeries, but he’s made it.

And about to be a big brother (his mom is pregnant again!)
