Villanova takes home championship

In a stunning victory over UNC Chapel Hill, Villanova took home the NCAA title last night.

Ryan Arcidiacono dribbled up the court and passed to Kris Jenkins in the final 4.7 seconds, allowing Jenkins to knock down the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer, giving the Villanova Wildcats their second national championship in the schools history.

They prevailed over North Carolina 77-74 at NRG Stadium in Houston.

The second-seed Wildcats were 35-5 and finished the tournament with yet another impressive offensive performance and excellent defense as usual, but it required every ounce of fortitude to take on the Tar Heels (33-7).

Villanova coach Jay Wright called timeout to draw up a play that he described as “an end-of-the-game situation where we put the ball in Arch’s hands and let him make the decision.”
