UK PM is committed to working with US to destroy IS

UK Prime Minister David Cameron has told NBC that he wants Britain and the US to work together to destroy the Islamic State (IS), which has been seizing land in Syria and Iraq.

Two years ago, Parliament voted down proposed military action against Syria, however since then IS (formerly known as ISIS) has expanded and committed itself to extremist action. They even went so far as to release their “5 year plan” in which they would have taken the entirety of the Middle East and North Africa, as well as Spain, Greece, and parts of Eastern Europe.

From the BBC:

Speaking about the UK’s possible role in fighting the group, Mr Cameron told NBC: “I want Britain to do more. I’ll always have to take my parliament with me.

“We’re talking and discussing at the moment, including with the opposition parties in Britain, what more we can do. But be in no doubt, we’re committed to working with you to destroy the caliphate in both countries.

He is also to give a speech on Monday to discourage young Britons from joining IS, warning that they will end up as little more than “cannon fodder”. The UK along with the rest of western Europe has faced surprising issue with citizens joining the IS, particularly as IS was recruiting via social media.

“If you are a boy, they will brainwash you, strap bombs to your body and blow you up. If you are a girl, they will enslave and abuse you,” he will say.
