Tyler, the Creator’s Controversial Lyrics Cost him his Australia Tour

Controversy surrounding Tyler, the Creator’s profane and offensive lyrics has forced the music artist to cancel the Australian portion of his Cherry Bomb World Tour, set for September.

Collective Shout, an activists’ group fighting the everyday objectification of girls and women in media and pop culture, was the sweeping force behind the ultimate cancelation of the tour.

Earlier this summer, Collective Shout began campaigning against Tyler, the Creator due to his “misogynistic hate speech against women” and his “pro-rape” attitude.

Collective Shout has gone so far as launching a petition to Immigration Minister Peter Dutton (an Australian government official) asking him to deny Tyler, the Creator a visa based on his language and behavior.

While neither Collective Shout or Frontier Touring, the touring company backing Tyler’s Australia shows, can confirm his actually legal status regarding his visa, both have confirmed that Tyler has canceled this portion of the tour.

Tyler, the Creator’s statement regarding the cancelation was posted on Frontier Touring’s facebook page, reading “We would much rather come to Australia when it isn’t surrounded in controversy.”
