BY KEVIN SAWYER – Two intrepid and determined treasure hunters have now begun to excavate a tunnel in Poland where they believe their is a $300 million treasure in gold and jewels. They believe it was brought to this huge tunnel complex by the Nazi leaders as the Russians closed in on Berlin in 1945.

The treasure hunting duo discovered the tunnel leading to a massive cave last autumn but have been going through the permission paperwork since then to receive official government permission to explore the tunnel where, they believe, lies a fortune in Nazi gold and jewels. There has been much skepticism about the project including a Krakow University study that declares that there is no treasure there and that there was never any such thing as a Nazi gold train.

The two are equipped with digging equipment and a research team of 35 explorers. The team plans on streaming the event live and it should last for about two days. They plan on drilling three holes to determine if there is, indeed, an underground tunnel system. The Nazi’s were widely known for the construction of massive tunnel systems all over Europe during their reign. Their top leaders, including Hitler himself, stole untold millions in gold, jewels and art during their occupations.

The legend of the train has been around since the end of World War Two but no one has yet to find any evidence that it even existed. The search team, however, is convinced that their ground penetrating radar equipment has, indeed, showed a train beneath the dirt in this part of Poland. There have also been rumors that the Nazi’s did, indeed, build an intricate tunnel system in this region of Poland and that it even contained a bunker for Hitler himself.

A news site in Poland, last year, speculated that if the treasure were found it would contain as much as 300 tons, yes, tons, of gold.

The Nazi’s did begin shifting all of their treasure back to within Germany toward the end of the war as the Americans and the British were closing in from the west and the Russians were closing in from the east. However, there are huge amounts of stolen Nazi treasure that has never been recovered.
