BY KEVIN SAWYER – A virtual pornography festival held in Tokyo was recently shut down somewhat prematurely due to the fact that the venue simply couldn’t hold the massive throng of virtual porn enthusiasts that showed up for the festival. It was called the Adult VR Fest and the response to the event was simply too overwhelming for the organizers and for the security people. They thought it best just to close the event and re-tool for next year.
The problem was that the organizers only expected a couple of dozen people to show up and were not prepared for the hundreds that did so. Some of the attractions included, of course, anime and hentai girls as well as virtual reality glasses that allowed the festival goers to experience virtual sex. There was one VR machine that simulated a woman on top of a man as well as a cardboard box that blew air. When event goers put their hand in the cardboard box, the feeling was the same as if they were fondling a female breast.
Google has revealed that searches at its search engine for virtual porn have skyrocketed in the last two years. In the last 20 months or so, Google says, search requests for virtual porn have risen over 10,000%.
Hundreds of people waited in the street to get into the event and the organizers felt that the crowd may get out of hand and may even instigate a riot. They thought it best to shut it down, apologize, and be better prepared the next time. Virtual porn has become the latest advance in adult entertainment and it looks to experience tremendous growth over the next several years. Projections are that, by 2025 or so, the virtual porn businesses will be doing $1 billion a year.
