Russian missiles land in Iran

Russia launched 26 cruise missiles at targets in north and northwest Syria on Wednesday, but 4 of them have apparently landed in Iran, according to unnamed US officials.

From the BBC:

The news came as Nato renewed assurances to defend its allies in view of the “escalation of Russian military activities” in Syria.

NATO is currently boosting its response forces.

The Russian defense ministry has declined to comment so far.

Moscow has denied Western accusations that say it’s been primarily targeting opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Russia insists the strikes have hit the infrastructure of the Islamic State and other radical Islamic militant groups.
