Marissa Heart, star of new movie Breaking Through, answered a few questions for us here at Hip Daily. Enjoy!
Explain a little bit about your new movie Breaking Through and what your role in it is
Breaking Through is a film about breaking into the dance industry through YouTube, however, I believe that there are many other lessons to take away from this film! A big lesson from Breaking Through is that you don’t have to change yourself in order to be successful. Stay true to your passions and yourself and do what makes YOU and your soul happy. In the film, I play Tara, the younger sister of the group. Tara is very similar to who I am individually, so I really connected with her. She’s very happy, energetic and full of love. What really drew me to her, though, was the darker scenes that she has in the film. I really wanted to challenge myself and connect with Tara on a deeper level.
What was it like for you being on Star Search?
Star Search was an absolutely amazing experience! It opened me up to the industry and so many great opportunities in LA! It was very new for me. I had no idea what to expect, so I took it all in and will never forget it. I am so thankful for that experience.
Do you prefer dancing over, say, acting?
To be honest, I couldn’t choose if I had to! I have completely different loves for each, and I am so passionate about both of them.
Out of all your roles, what has been the most challenging?
Tara, my character in Breaking Through, was challenging for me when she was going through darker times during the film. I’m such a naturally happy and loving individual that I had to challenge myself to dig deeper to connect with Tara.
What has been your favorite role thus far?
Tara in Breaking Through has been my favorite so far. I got to know her on the deepest level out of all of my roles to date and I was genuinely able to relate to her.
What actor or actress would you love to work with in the future?
I would absolutely love to work with Cameron Diaz, Matthew McConaughey, Bradley Cooper, Kate Hudson, Mila Kunis, and the list goes on!
Anything else you want to add?
I have a few shows that I have been working on that should be airing pretty soon, which include: Lip Sync Battle on Spike TV, and Every Single Step on DanceOn! An episode of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend that I had the opportunity to be a part of just aired a few weeks ago as well! I am so grateful for all of the experiences and opportunities that life has thrown at me! It’s so surreal that I’ve been able to genuinely experience the things that I have, and I am so thankful for it!
