A few months ago, Baby Kangaroo “Doodlebug”  was found on a roadside in New South Wales, Australia and  was a puny 3 1/2 pounds.

Tim Beshara and his mom, Gillian Abbott, don’t know why he was left on his own.

“We don’t know whether his mother had died either through a car accident or a dog attack, or whether he simply was abandoned,” Beshara said in a recent interview with CBS News.

This sweet 15-month-old kangaroo is finding a way to cope through companionship with a stuffed teddy bear.

“The kangaroo will lay in the grass next to the teddy, will cuddle the teddy and even practice his kicking against the teddy,” Beshara said.

This week, a photo of the best friends went viral, was shared more than 3,300 times, and received hundreds of comments.

Abbott, is  a retired worker from Grafton, New South Wales. With her spare time she cares for orphaned/injured animals on her small, yet forested property.

She met Doodlebug and then made the introduction to her son.

The kangaroo seems quite comfortable with her new arrangement. Doodlebug will hop off into the forest, but usually returns to be fed.

Beshara said that his mother was warmed by how the image of Doodlebug and his teddy has been welcomed across the world.
