Robin Williams’ friends, colleagues and fans took to social media today to celebrate what would have been the 64-year-old’s birthday.

The actor’s only daughter, Zelda, announced on Instagram on Monday that she would be taking a break from social media in the weeks following her father’s birthday.

“I will be taking a break from social media in the coming weeks. It’s a time better served away from the opinions or sentiments of others, and I appreciate your understanding. In my absence, I understand there will be those who wish to leave messages regarding Dad on my board, but please attempt to be respectful and kind to one another in the process, both because I will not be here to delete or mediate trolling, and because kindness is in short supply these days anyhow,” said the aspiring actress in her post.

Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Williams’ daughter on CBS’ “The Crazy Ones” also took to Instagram to honor her co-star, “Smile, though your heart is aching. Smile, even though it’s breaking. Happy Birthday RW.”

On July 17, singer CeeLo Green released “Robin Williams”, a single dedicated to Williams and other late celebrities including John Belushi and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

“Life reminds me of Robin Williams. We’ve got to laugh the pain away,” sings the “The Voice” coach.

One of Williams’ last social media posts was on his birthday when he posted on Instagram, “Happy Birthday to me! A visit from one of my favorite leading ladies, Crystal.” Crystal the monkey was Williams’ costar in the “Night at the Museum” film and sequel.
