Benedict Cumberbatch First Look as Doctor Strange

The latest Entertainment Weekly features Benedict Cumberbatch’s debut as Doctor Strange.

According to the reveal article, Cumberbatch hasn’t needed to don the costume on set very often yet. Filming began for the Marvel movie in November and will wrap in March. As visible on the cover, the British actor utilized the photo shoot to practice Doctor Strange’s signature arcane hand gestures.

“I’m still in the infancy of learning all that,” Cumberbatch says. “It was like, okay, I’ve got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically. I’m thinking, there’s going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I’m still working on that. We haven’t played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It’s like anything, you just have to experiment.”

The movie is set to premiere on November 4, 2016 and is directed by Scott Derrickson. The screenplay was written by Jon Spaihts and C. Robert Cargill. The film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton alongside Cumberbatch.
