After the stunning success of Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man, the studio has officially announced plans for a sequel to be released on July 6, 2018. The sequel’s title will be Ant-Man and The Wasp. This will be the first Marvel film with a female hero in the title (isn’t that a little sadly surprising?). Scott Lang will reprise his role alongside Hope van Dyne.
The plans for this sequel shifts the dates of other films, with Black Panther moved up to February 16, 2018 and Captain Marvel‘s release date at March 8, 2019.
Ant-Man grossed $178.5M domestically and $231.3M internationally, and is the ninth top-grossing film of the year domestically. It will open in its final international market, China, next week on October 16.
