BY KEVIN SAWYER – His name is Mark Roper and he has, indeed, built the world’s largest Nerf gun. He built it in conjunction with a local engineering firm and it seems to hardly be a toy.
Unlike the smaller and more standard Nerf gun, Roper’s monster uses compressed CO2 to shoot the foam darts from the barrel. It is extremely powerful as the CO2 canisters he uses are designed for paintball guns with a furious release of 80 PSI. The darts are the size of swimming pool noodles and can travel up to 40 MPH. It is really more a Nerf cannon than a gun.
