Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova Highest Paid Female Athletes

Tennis star Maria Sharapova has been named the highest-paid female athlete by Forbes for the 11th consecutive year, with an estimated total earning of $29.2 million.

#2 to the Russian star in this but not in tennis, Serena Williams stood with $24.6 million. Caroline Wozniacki was third, also from tennis. Auto racer Danica Patrick was fourth, and fifth place went to tennis player Ana Ivanovic.

UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, took number 8. Rousey has recently been enjoying the spotlight following her 34-second beatdown of Bethe Correia.

Despite these impressive numbers, not a single woman is on Forbe’s list of the 25 highest-paid athletes, signifying the remaining gap in pay between men and women.
