New England Patriots’ franchise player Stephen Gostkowski has now become the NFL’s highest paid kicker after replacing his one-year, $4.59 million tender Wednesday, July, 15, 2015, with a four-year, $17.2 million deal.

The 31 year old star is now the first kicker in the NFL to average more than $4 million in annual salary.

He’s led the NFL in scoring four times in nine seasons, including the last three seasons. Gostkowski has also led the league in field goals made the past two years, going 35-for-37 in 2014.

The three-time Pro Bowler and now highest paid kicker was picked in the fourth round of the 2006 draft to replace Patriots Super Bowl hero Adam Vinatieri.
