Facebook Milestone – 1bn users in one day

On Monday, 1 billion people logged into Facebook.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed the milestone in a Facebook post Thursday afternoon, pointing out that number is equal to 1 in 7 people on Earth who logged on in a 24-hour period.

“When we talk about our financials, we use average numbers, but this is different,” Zuckerberg wrote. “This was the first time we reached this milestone, and it’s just the beginning of connecting the whole world.”

The social network has become the second most-trafficked website (behind Google) in the US and worldwide. Facebook currently reports 1.49 monthly active users, meaning that about 2/3 of its entire userbase logged on some time Monday.
