Colin Powell speaks on Hillary’s email scandal

Colin Powell said on Sunday that he used two computers during his time servinv as Secretary of State, one for transmitting sensitive material and another for emailing “housekeeping stuff.”

From The Hill:

“I had a secure State Department machine for secure material and I had a laptop that I could use for email. I would email relatives, friends, but I would also email in the department,” Powell explained on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

“But it was mostly housekeeping stuff — what’s the status of this paper, what’s going on here.”

Powell, who served during George W. Bush’s administration, has mentioned his two computers before, and wrote an entire chapter in his book regarding the matter.

This fact came to light once more recently, however, due to Democratic candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s ongoing email scandal. Clinton used a personal server throughout her tenure, possibly placing sensitive information at risk.

Powell would not comment as to whether he thought it was appropriate for Clinton to be sending work emails – some of which have now been determined to contain classified information – from a private account.

He pointed out that the State inspector general and FBI are looking into it, and that Clinton as well as her top aides are to testify before Congress.

“It’s best for me to talk about what I know and not what occurred under Secretary Clinton’s jurisdiction,” Powell said.
