Trump Piñata Trumps other Piñatas

Dalton Javier Ramirez claims to be the first maker of the Trump piñata in Mexico or America.

He’s based in the town of Reynosa, across the Rio Grande from Hidalgo, Texas.

Over the past two months, many news stories have popped up about him. His Facebook page, Piñateria Ramirez has 11,000 likes and counting.

Ever since Donald Trump spoke out again Mexican immigrants in his candidate declaration, referring to them as criminals and rapists, he has garnered a significant addition to his group of opponents.

From NPR:

“I wanted some new ideas for piñatas that people would want to buy because our sales were down,” says Ramirez. “Our American customers had abandoned us. They didn’t want to come to Reynosa because of the insecurity. I never thought they would want this piñata all over the US. They’re ordering them for demonstrations and marches. I even have a museum in Houston that wants one.”

Ramirez has really kept up with pop culture in his piñatas. In the last year, he’s made piñatas of escaped druglord, El Chapo Guzman, a topless Kim Kardashian, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, and the Oscar-winning director of the movie Birdman, Alejandro González Ińárritu.

He says he’s sold the Donald Trump piñatas at $40 apiece, mostly to American customers, and has dozens more orders to fill.

With the success of the Trump piñata, Dalton Ramirez has decided to keep going with the theme of American politics, so watch out for a Hillary Clinton piñata coming soon.
