Trump remains the frontrunner for the Republican Party, with some polls noting him 20 points ahead of any second place.
He is known for utilizing Twitter to reach is over 5 million followers.
On Christmas Eve, Trump unleashed a barrage of criticisms for Jeb Bush, Hillary Clinton, as will as the “liberal media”. The tweetstorm focused on immigration, which Trump has made a large part of his platform.
News reports on Thursday said the Obama administration was organizing immigration raids to deport some illegal immigrants who have entered the country from Central America recently.
Both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders who are considered the head-to-head in the Democratic Party, were critical of the reports.
In contrast, Donald Trump tried to take credit for the plans, saying that the raids were a response to the pressure he’s placed on the government with his antics and outspoken anti-immigration beliefs.
