Three year old chokes at McDonald’s while everyone stood around filming it

BY KEVIN SAWYER – A little three year old girl in England found herself choking on a piece of chicken at her local McDonald’s. So, what did everyone at the restaurant do? Did they try and help or call out for help? Of course not. They all simply whipped out their cell phones and began filming the little girl as she continued to choke and struggle to stay alive.

In one of the more disgusting displays of human behavior, and there have been countless of late, little Millie Wise began to lose consciousness and have convulsions as her grandmother screamed for help. None of the other customers moved. They were all too busy filming the event for their self absorbed social media pages.

There was, however, one McDonald’s employee who ran over to see what he could do after he called for the shopping center’s paramedic to come to the scene. The McDonald’s employee was not able to dislodge the stuck chicken from little Millie’s mouth. When paramedic Steve Dawking, 42, arrived, he tried, unsuccessfully, to dislodge the chicken by slapping Millie on the back four times. The fifth time, however, he said that he slapped her back as hard as he could and the piece of chicken came flying out of little Millie’s mouth.

Millie was taken to a nearby hospital and treated. When Millie’s mom, Claire Wise, 35, arrived on the scene, she was simply astonished at the behavior of the patrons. She graciously thanked the McDonald’s employee as well as medic Dawking for saving her child’s life.

Afterward, Claire Wise said of the incident that, “It is unbelievable that people would watch a thing like that and their first instinct was not to call for help but to take pictures and video of it. I hope the people that did use their phones to take photos and video have the decency to delete them and I hope no one will share them on social media. I am disgusted that people recorded such a traumatic incident while my mom and Millie were suffering such an ordeal.”

Ms. Wise is expecting decency from those people? From people who didn’t even have the decency to call for help?

It is just another incident in a long and sordid list recording the self absorbed, and electronically addicted, bubble world that most humans live in these days. For instance, a few months ago, people at a beach in Argentina dragged a baby dolphin right out of the water and they all laughed and took selfies with it until the baby dolphin died. There was also a case last year in California where beach goers swarmed the carcass of a dead whale that had washed ashore and began to selfie away. Oh, and lets not forget the people in Lebanon that dragged a sea turtle right out of the surf just so they could take selfies with it. After they were all done, they beat the turtle to death. That was a selfie moment, too.

Decency indeed.
