Orange is the New Black renewed for 3 more seasons

Netflix’s female prison drama Orange is the New Black has been renewed for another 3 seasons!

The show’s season 4 will debut on June 17, and on Friday Netflix confirmed that the show will run for seasons 5, 6, and 7, with series creator and showrunner Jenji Kohan continuing in her role.

“Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things. In some cultures, ‘May you lead an interesting life,’ is a curse, but I don’t live in those cultures,” said Kohan in a statement. “Here’s to keeping it interesting. Thanks, Netflix! Both thanks and you’re welcome Lionsgate! And kudos and gratitude to the stellar cast and crew and writers and producers and editors and musicians and mixers and shleppers … with whom I have the pride and honor of crafting this show. Three more years! Three more years!”

Taylor Schilling plays the lead of Piper Chapman, who is sentenced to a year-and-a-half in womens’ prison after being named in the trial of her ex-girlfriend’s drug ringleader. The ensemble cast features Laverne Cox, Natasha Lyonne, Uzo Aduba, and Laura Prepon.
