Gay Rights Group Responds to Kim Davis

A gay rights group has decided to respond to Kim Davis via billboard in her hometown.

Davis has made national news after refusing to issue marriage licenses to gay couples in her area on the grounds of her religious beliefs. She was jailed last week for defying the Supreme Court’s June 5-4 ruling that legalized same-sex marriage. Davis was released on Tuesday after several same-sex couples received marriage certificates from the clerk’s office while she was jailed. She returns to work on Monday, and if she continues to interfere with the marriage licensing of gay couples, she could face sanctions.

Planting Peace is the gay rights organization responsible for the billboard which stands in the middle of a long road in Davis’s town of 7,000 people and will remain for one month.

Planting Peace is also known for its Equality House, established in 2013 – a rainbow-painted house that sits across the street from the hateful Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas.
