GOP Candidate and Senator from Texas Ted Cruz has said that if the government shuts down over the defunding of Planned Parenthood the blame is on President Obama. Cruz has previously said he is willing to shut down the government over the issue. Calls to defund Planned Parenthood have erupted since a controversial edited video was released claiming that Planned Parenthood was selling fetal organs.

“What Barack Obama is doing for Planned Parenthood is radical, it’s extreme, it’s unreasonable,” Cruz told supporters in St. Louis on Saturday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Cruz has vowed that Senate will not pass a budget involving funding for the women’s health organization.
Other conservatives have echoed the sentiment that the blame would be on Obama as the President would most likely veto any defunding measures.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has called the plan to defund the organization “an exercise in futility”.
